real.exe error: needs more than one file for nested domain

Postby yuwei2341 » Fri Dec 05, 2014 2:41 pm

Hi,
I'm running wrf3_6_1 with two-way nesting. I have one nested domain and both parent and nested domains start from 2003-01-01_00:00:00 and run for 6 days. However, running real.exe gave an error message for not finding met_em.d02.2003-01-01_03:00:00.nc. Isn't that only the data of the starting time is needed for domain 2 (i.e. met_em.d02.2003-01-01_00:00:00.nc)? Could anyone help to see where I got it wrong?

The full error message from rsl.error.0000 is:

Domain 2: Current date being processed: 2003-01-01_03:00:00.0000, which is loop # 2 out of 48
configflags%julyr, %julday, %gmt: 2003 1 3.000000

Re: real.exe error: needs more than one file for nested doma

Postby yuwei2341 » Fri Dec 05, 2014 5:04 pm

Update:
It works when I set sst_update = 0
I guess the problem is when I need to update sst, real.exe looks for bottom boundary condition data for nested domain. Given that, how do I generate met_em data for nested domain for all time steps?

Thanks.
