How albedo infomation to be used in wrf?

Hello all,

When I run geogrid.exe´╝îI find following albedo variables in the geo_em_d0?.nc files,
float ALBEDO12M(Time, month, south_north, west_east) ;
ALBEDO12M:FieldType = 104 ;
ALBEDO12M:MemoryOrder = "XYZ" ;
ALBEDO12M:units = "percent" ;
ALBEDO12M:description = "Monthly surface albedo" ;
ALBEDO12M:stagger = "M" ;
ALBEDO12M:sr_x = 1 ;
ALBEDO12M:sr_y = 1 ;
float SNOALB(Time, south_north, west_east) ;
SNOALB:FieldType = 104 ;
SNOALB:MemoryOrder = "XY " ;
SNOALB:units = "percent" ;
SNOALB:description = "Maximum snow albedo" ;
SNOALB:stagger = "M" ;
SNOALB:sr_x = 1 ;
SNOALB:sr_y = 1 ;
but there are LANDUSE.TBL/VEGPARM.TBL files in WRFV3/run path, and these files contain the albedo infomation of different landuse. My question is that which one adbedo info( from geo_em* files or *.TBL files) will be used in wrf? or some combined information from the two sources? or different land surface parameterization scheme will choose different albedo sources ?

thank you,
lee

Hi Lee,

In namelist.input &physics section, there are two options: usemonalb and rdmaxalb. When these two options are turned on, the monthly albedo and max albedo are from geogrid instead of *TBL.

Cheers,
Xun

Yes, I have seen those options in the namelist.readme few days ago.
Thank you very much.
