eta level calculation

Postby pinaki.imd on Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:45 am

Sir,

I am new user of WRF and having some problem to increase the no of eta levels. Kindly extend guidence in the following matter:

1. how to calculate different eta level divisions.

2. I have run the model giving some precalculated 51 eta levels, But at the time of running ./wrf.exe it aborted giving segmentation fault.

Please enlighten in this regard.

The WRF model documentation should have the correct usage for specifying the eta levels in the namelist for WPS. Have you looked at the readme files for the namelist and also at the model documentation?

I have gone through the documentation.
But before running wrf.exe in run directory, you have to specify the no of eta levels(defult is 28) and also have to specify the calculated values according to the specified no of eta levels in the file namelist.input

If i specify the no. of eta levels as 51 , how can i get the 51 eta level values between 0 to 1.

Have you any ready program for that calculation.

Your answer to my specified problem is not clear to me.

Kindly elaborate and enlighten me.

The method you use to increase the number of levels can be as simple or as complex as you want. You can fit a line to the default values and increase the number of levels in the boundary layer, near the tropopause, etc.

You can also look up the method employed by the WRF domain wizard [or the old method in wrf si].

try slides 26,27 to see if this option will work for you.
