Issues Running the WRF Executable

Postby JamesB » Mon Feb 16, 2015 3:01 pm

Hi all,

I have been trying to run WRF the last couple of days with mpirun on a single node with 24 processors. I am running a model simuation for 66 hours using the single layer UCM option. I am using a time step of 30 seconds. When I run the model, it suddenly stops about 6 hours into the simulation. When it stops running, I get the following message on my terminal screen:
===================================================================================
= BAD TERMINATION OF ONE OF YOUR APPLICATION PROCESSES
= EXIT CODE: 9
= CLEANING UP REMAINING PROCESSES
= YOU CAN IGNORE THE BELOW CLEANUP MESSAGES
===================================================================================
YOUR APPLICATION TERMINATED WITH THE EXIT STRING: Killed (signal 9)
This typically refers to a problem with your application.
Please see the FAQ page for debugging suggestions

Now I've had this message come up in the past when I run the model. What is confusing about this run is that I am not given any reason for this error. It just stops and give me this message. I have the debug level set at 100, so I checked my rsl.error.0000 file and it just says the following before the model stopped running:
d03 2000-08-24_06:08:00 calling inc/PERIOD_BDY_EM_B_inline.inc
d03 2000-08-24_06:08:00 calling inc/PERIOD_BDY_EM_B_inline.inc
d03 2000-08-24_06:08:00 calling inc/HALO_EM_C_inline.inc
d03 2000-08-24_06:08:00 calling inc/HALO_EM_C2_inline.inc

Here is my namelist.input for this run:

Based off this information, does anyone see why this problem is occuring? Why would my model just crash, and not give any specific reason why? Is it possible that my 30 second time step does not satisfy the CFL criteria? I used the WRF Domain Wizard to set up this run, and with the 30 second time step it does not give me any errors with my namelist.input. I am completely stumped by this problem.

Thanks,
James
