how to alter met_em driver data?

Any issues with the actual running of the WRF.

how to alter met_em driver data?

Dear WRF users,

WRF rookie here. I'm setting up a real data experiment using WRF
v3.9. I've successfully completed a control run driven by NCEP FNL
Operational Model Global Tropospheric Analyses. Now I wish to run an
experiment where I reduce the soil moisture.

I mirrored by control run WPS and WRFV3 directories, and in the
mirrored WPS directory I reduced the data values in fields SM100200,
SM040100, SM010040, and SM000010 in all of my met_em*.nc files
produced by WPS for the control run.

I then linked the altered met_em*.nc files to the WRFV3 directory and
ran real.exe and wrf.exe.

Both real.exe and wrf.exe ran successfully, but my output files
contain the unaltered soil moisture from the control run in the SMOIS
field.

Am I changing soil moisture in the wrong place? Any advice on how to
go about this much appreciated!

Thanks,
Tim
