Making connection on different ssh remote port

Hi all,
I would like to be able to connect to a remote pc (where wrf is installed) listening for ssh connections on a port whose number is different from the classic 22. Apparently the pop up window comes up only with the remote host name, user name and password. I tried to append the port number to the remote hostmname but with no success. I tried xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port_number as well as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -p portnumber.

Would that be possible?
