ASTER not localizing

Postby kaelel18 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 11:31 am

Hi everyone. I'm a new WRF user and I would like to ask for your assistance. I'm trying to use ASTER 1 sec resolution.

I followed this guide https://sites.google.com/site/xxiclimat ... ects=0&d=1.

I downloaded the ASTER tif file. I checked its information using

Code: Select all
 gdalinfo data.tif

it showed

Code: Select all
Driver: GTiff/GeoTIFF
Files: data.tif
Size is 9571, 11865
Coordinate System is:
GEOGCS["WGS 84",
    DATUM["WGS_1984",
        SPHEROID["WGS 84",6378137,298.257223563,
            AUTHORITY["EPSG","7030"]],
        AUTHORITY["EPSG","6326"]],
    PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],
    UNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433],
    AUTHORITY["EPSG","4326"]]
Origin = (119.608194444411112,16.852638888888887)
Pixel Size = (0.000277777777778,-0.000277777777778)

  NoData Value=-32768

Afterwards, I translate the tif file to a binary file using gdal_translate
Code: Select all
gdal_translate –of ENVI data.tif data.bil

after which, an .hdr file was produced as seen below

Code: Select all
ENVI
description = {
data.bil}
samples = 9571
lines   = 11865
bands   = 1
header offset = 0
file type = ENVI Standard
data type = 2
interleave = bsq
byte order = 0
map info = {Geographic Lat/Lon, 1, 1, 119.608194444411, 16.8526388888889, 0.000277777777778, 0.000277777777778,WGS-84}
coordinate system string = {GEOGCS["GCS_WGS_1984",DATUM["D_WGS_1984",SPHEROID["WGS_1984",6378137,298.257223563]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],UNIT["Degree",0.017453292519943295]]}
band names = {
Band 1}

I renamed the binary file to 00001-9571.00001-11865 and created an index file incorporating the information from the hdr file which is seen below.

Code: Select all
type = continuous
signed = yes
projection = regular_ll
dx = 0.00027777778
dy = 0.00027777778
known_x = 1.0
known_y = 11865
known_lat = 16.8526388888889
known_lon = 119.608194444411
wordsize = 2
endian = little
tile_x = 9571
tile_y = 11865
tile_z = 1
row_order = top_bottom
missing_value = -32768
units="meters MSL"
description="ASTER 1-sec Topography Height"

I ran geogrid and it didn't encounter any problem. But then when I checked the min max values of my 3rd domain I get 0 values.

Further, i tried checking the array values in panoply for height, all cell values are zero.

Code: Select all
Variable: hgt
Type: float
Total Size: 325000 bytes
            81250 values
Number of Dimensions: 2
Dimensions and sizes:   [south_north | 325] x [west_east | 250]
Coordinates:
Number Of Attributes: 7
  FieldType :   104
  MemoryOrder :   XY
  units :   meters MSL
  description :   ASTER 1-sec Topography Height
  stagger :   M
  sr_x :   1
  sr_y :   1
(0)   ASTER 1-sec Topography Height (meters MSL) : min=0   max=0

I tried doing the same for my 1st and 2nd domain which uses built-in topo and it shows min max values and they have values in the panoply.

Code: Select all
Variable: hgt
Type: float
Total Size: 3600 bytes
            900 values
Number of Dimensions: 2
Dimensions and sizes:   [south_north | 36] x [west_east | 25]
Coordinates:
Number Of Attributes: 7
  FieldType :   104
  MemoryOrder :   XY
  units :   meters MSL
  description :   GMTED2010 30-arc-second topography height
  stagger :   M
  sr_x :   1
  sr_y :   1
(0)   GMTED2010 30-arc-second topography height (meters MSL) : min=0   max=1456.34

I am sorry if I am posting lots of information, but I tried looking over the net and I seem to find none that helps me. Thank you so much.

By the way, here is my namelist.wps
