Having problems running WRFSI?

Signal 11 and Illegal division by zero - Repost

Postby malonso » Sun Nov 30, 2008 1:44 am

I found part of my problems on how to continue, but looking at the /tmp/wrf_tools.log I see all kinds of problems, First there is a signal 11 from setsup.dat when trying to set up the coordinates (guessing) then TK throws an Illegal division by zero at srt_bounding_box.pl line 1789 and several other lines. I will assume, from all past experiences this may be related to the machine being 64-bit instead of 32. Seems most of earlier problems with WRF were related to that as well.

Short of building it on a 32-bit system, is there anything anybody can tell me further about this error, and is there any way to get around it?

If need be, I can post the error log output...

Many thanks...

I've built a 64-bit version successfully using AIX. I did have to make one coding change so it would compile. Maybe the same thing is affecting you, even though it did compile. The change is:

--------------------------------------------------------------
Code: Select all
*** create_bcd_bkgnd_xy.c_orig  Sat Jul 16 16:30:53 2005
--- create_bcd_bkgnd_xy.c       Mon Aug  8 17:08:48 2005
***************
*** 714,720 ****

          s1   = size - 1;
          ptmp = pdat;
!         pend = pdat + (n * size);
          while (ptmp < pend)
          {
              pi = ptmp;
--- 714,720 ----

          s1   = size - 1;
          ptmp = pdat;
!         pend = (unsigned char *) pdat + (n * size);
          while (ptmp < pend)
          {
              pi = ptmp;

--------------------------------------------------------------

If that doesn't help, you might check your compiler man pages. You might be able to build a 32-bit
binary.
