Compile WRF problems

Postby kdeblois » Tue Jan 29, 2013 5:09 am

I am trying to compile WRF on a laptop (Intel Core i7) using the Ubuntu 12.10 OS. I decided to go for netCDF release 3.6.3 because of reported problems with release 4. I am pretty sure netCDF got installed without problems. I have tried to compile WRF (em_real) several times (even older releases) with the GFortran option, but every time I get the following type of fatal errors:

Error: Can't open module file 'wrf_data.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory
Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'module_io.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory
Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'module_io_domain.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory
Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'module_optional_input.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory
Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'module_initialize_real.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory

As is to be expected, I do not end up with any .exe files.

Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this problem.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion?

Could it be, perhaps, that NETCDF was not properly compiled? How can I enforce compilation with gfortran?

Did you get the solution?? @ kdeblois

I am having the same issue. Actually I need this old version (WRF 3.3.1) to compile for some own purpose. But have the same issues repeatedly that you posted..

use wrf_data

Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'wrf_data.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory

then continue with module related error
